The Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) has written to the Ministers of Defense and Interior, as well as the Inspector General of Police (IGP), requesting comments on election casualties.
Dominic Nitiwul, Ambrose Dery, and Dr. Akuffo Dampare have been requested by CHRAJ to furnish it with detail accounts of deaths and injuries that occurred during the 2020 elections.
MP for North Tongu Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, MP for Ellembelle, have both petitioned the Commission to look into the election’s excesses.
The petition is primarily concerned with incidents that occurred in the Techiman South, Odododiodio, Ablekuma Central, and Savelugu constituencies.
The officers of the Ghana Armed Forces, according to the MPs, did not conduct themselves in a manner that aided the nation’s progress during the elections.
The legislators claim that their actions resulted in harm to life, limb, and property.
Furthermore, Police officers are accused of violating their constitutional obligations during the same election.
Armed officers are accused of visiting violence on some residents in the Techiman South constituency and other locations, according to the petition.
CHRAJ says it wants to look into the problem as soon as possible, and that getting responses from these officials will help with that.
