An independent political analyst, Boakye Yiadom has described the recent back and forth debates between the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) as needless and useless.

Mr. Yiadom believes there are more important national issues to be discussed that will benefit the ordinary Ghanaian instead of engaging on issues that will not bring down the ever rising dollar.

He opined that the banter between the two major political parties in the country does not in any way contribute to alleviating the suffering of majority of Ghanaians who are looking for a better and improved living standards.

Mr. Yiadom was reacting to the recent back and forth press conferences by the two political parties in relation to a comment by former President John Mahama during his nationwide ‘Thank You’ tour were the former president accused the government of unbearable economic hardship in the country.

He said instead of thinking of how to fix the economy as a priority, the two political parties which have had chance to governed are engaging in trading of insults and accusations which is a manifestation that they have failed this country.

He said it was regrettable that there is no third political force in the country that will send both the NDC and NPP into opposition as these two political parties have failed the nation.

He chastised the governing NPP for rather focusing its attention in responding to the NDC when it should be thinking of how to better the lives of Ghanaians through provisions of portable water, schools, employment opportunities among others.

Mr. Yiadom indicated that Ghanaians are tired of the “we will do” slogan, asking them to better the lots of the electorates instead of the “useless and needless” press conferences.

He charged Ghanaians to look beyond political rhetoric and gimmicks from the two political parties and be independent thinkers in order to assess their living standards against the cheap talk of the politicians.
