The Coalition of National Youth Organizers has called on President Akuffo Addo to channel adequate resources and funds into the National Youth Authority (NYA) in other for it to function properly.

This the coalition said will go in a long way to help create avenue for advancement of positive impact on the youth of the country.

The call was contained in a press statement signed by the group’s president Mark Ewusi Arkoh

The coalition is made up of National Youth Organizers of five political parties in the country, namely; People’s National Convention (PNC), All People’s Congress (APC), Convention People’s Party (CPP), Great Consolidated People’s Party (GCPP) and the Progressive People’s Party (PPP).

The coalition averred that successive governments over the years, pumped more resources into supporting sports activities, but failed to see the bigger picture which has to do with deliberately formulating policies that will help improve upon the lives of the youth in the country.

The group has thus entreated government to immediately come up with reliable and innovative policies that will help improve the livelihood of the youth in the country.

The group also called on government to as a matter of urgency, invest more in multi-disciplinary activities like the Boy Scout in the basic school levels to instill discipline into the young ones to enable them become responsible and good adults.

The group further called for a proper release of resources to the National Youth Authority to push young ones in the Senior High levels to partake in cadets and debate club activities.

“The Coalition is proposing that government through the National Youth Authority sponsors disciplinary clubs like the Scout in the basic schools, to start incorporating into the young ones the spirit of patriotism and discipline”.

General Secretary of the group, Comrade Osei Kofi Acquah  admonished government to establish bureau at the National Youth Authority to hunt and select research thesis that are problem solving and connect the researchers to the appropriate job market, adding that government must build a research bureau across all the sixteen regions in the country in other to solve most research problems we face as a country.

Comrade Jude Balma, Organizer for GCPP, King Hassan, organizer for APC and Comrade Faisal, organizer for PPP have also pleaded with the government to organize workshops and training for the youth, separate the National Youth Authority from that of the Youth and Sports authority in other for adequate resources and funds to be channeled into the National Youth Authority.

“The National Youth Authority should not remain under the shadows of the youth and sports authority, whose aim has been wasting tax payer’s money on fruitless football competitions’’, they said.

They explained that, the potentials of the youth must be recognized and nurtured to be able to contribute to the development of the country, suggesting that government should sponsor the NYA to periodically engage capacity to contribute their quota positively to their country.

‘’If government empowers the NYA enough, the Authority will through their proposal not only make patriots out of future leaders or create employment for them or boost the human resource to support the growth of the economy but will also be grooming future leaders who will be exposed practically in experience to build the country’’, Mark Ewusi Arkoh, president of the coalition suggested. The coalition has promised to keep a close eye on government, in its resource and budgetary allocation to the authority and also to monitor what will be done and be achieved by the authority, the release stated.
