Family of the late social activist, Ibrahim Anyass Mohammed, alias Macho Kaaka has served the Director General of the Police Intelligence and Police Professional Standards (PIPs) with a petition to initiate an inquiry into allegations of Professional misconduct made against the Ejura Police.

Lawyer to the Kaaka family, Oliver Barker Vormawor who announced the decision said “the allegations which were made public by the Report of the Ministerial Committee set up to investigate the Ejura killings contained claims by one Aminu Mohammed that the Ejura Police demanded and obtained a bribe in order to release from custody an individual against whom a criminal complaint had been made”.

According to Mr. Vormawor the allegations of corruption in the view of Kaaka’s mother, who is leading the petition raises critical questions about the integrity of the Ghana Police Service.

As such, the petition was brought to initiate an inquiry into the allegations of criminal and professional misconduct made against the Ejura Police, and in order that the necessary criminal and administrative sanctions may be applied” he added.

Oliver Barker Vormawor also indicated that a copy of the Petition has been served on the Inspector-General of Police; Attorney-General; and the Minister for Interior.

Families of the late social activist Ibrahim Mohammed Anyass, and others who got injured during the Ejura riot on October 27, 2021 met all Zongo Chiefs under the leadership of Sarki Zongo of Ejura, Alhaji Suraj Alhassan.

The meeting was to discuss issues including, updates on the investigations related to the death of Macho Kaaka, the aftermath of the Ejura committee’s report among others.
