South Africa produced some exquisite football in smashing Mozambique in Wednesday’s first-leg of the African Women Cup of Nations (AWCON) qualifiers.

Banyana Banyana won 7-0 in the away fixture at the Estadio Matola in Maputo.

South Africa had a comfortable 3-0 lead in the first half with goals from Melinda Kgadiete, Linda Motlhalo, and Gabriela Salgado.

They did not, however, sleep through the second half, increasing their tally with goals from Janine Van Wyk, Salgado, Noxolo Cesane, and Motlhalo.

Mozambique will travel to South Africa for the return leg, which will take place at Dobsonville Stadium on Tuesday, 26 October 2021.

The AWCON tournament will be held in Morocco in July and August 2022.
