Troubles in one of the Nkrumahist political party seems to be far from over as the 2020 Flagbearer of the People’s National Convention (PNC), David Apasera, has gone to court to reverse his removal from the party.

In a suit, Mr. Apasera sued 18 members of his party following their involvement in decisions and actions leading to his removal from the party.

The former presidential candidate contends that his removal was carried out by a National Executive Committee that “did not form the mandatory quorum needed for convening such a meeting.”

The meeting comprised nine regional chairmen and the First Vice-Chair of the PNC from the Ahafo, Central, Upper East, Northern, Ashanti, Savannah, and North East Regions.

Mr. Apasera argued that the constitution of the party had not been respected as  “the procedure of convening the NEC meeting was blatantly ignored.”

According to him, the 1st Chairman reported to have been present at the said meeting “was not at the meeting. As of the 7th September 2021, he was out of the jurisdiction of Ghana.”

He is therefore seeking an “order declaring that the purported. NEC meeting held on the 7th day of September. 2021 in Kumasi by the Defendants as null and void and of no legal effect.”

It would be recalled that on September 7, 2021 the National Executive Committee of the People’s National Convention (PNC) dismissed the leader of the party, David Apasera and Chairman, Moses Dani Baah.

This follows a petition by General Secretary, Janet Asana Nabla, and other party members.

The petition points to the financial malfeasance and misconduct of the two executives.

Greater Accra Regional Chairman, Bala Saliu Maikanka, takes over the role of Party Chairman as the General Secretary is reinstated.
