Family of the late social campaigner Ibrahim Mohammed has rejected the three member committee put together by the Interior Minister Anbrose Dery to investigate the shooting of two persons at Ejura in the Ashanti Region.

Head of the family Abdulai Abubakari said the family would have preferred a Parliamentary committee set up by government to probe the killings instead of the three member committee.

We don’t trust the committee. There are a lot of these same committees formed to investigate issues but we don’t get to hear anything. We want a Parliamentary committee to do this one. That we can trust

Following a directive by the President Nana Addo calling for a public inquiry to be conducted into the circumstances surrounding killing of two at Ejura when some youth were protesting, the Interior Minister Ambrose Dery on July 1, 2021 announced a 3-member committee to probe the Tuesday June 28. 2021 incident.

The three member committee would be chaired by Justice of the Court of Appeal George Kingsley Koomson. Other members are Security Expert Vladmir Antwi Danso and Executive Director of Penplusbyte Juliet Amoah.

The committee is expected to use a week to investigate and recommend sanctions for persons found culpable.

Meanwhile, the family of the slain social campaigner are not enthused about the three member committee thus saying they will do what it takes to get justice for their departed brother and son.

Even if it is international court we will go to seek justice for our brother. We don’t trust this committee. When Armed Suale died, we heard of investigations but as at now, we don’t know what is going on”. Mr. Abubakari said in an interview monitored by Mynewsafric.com.

Mr. Abubakari intimated that the family do not know the members of the committee thus cannot “trust them”. He also said the family was not allow to make contributions at the meeting, saying they were expecting to have a member from the family to be on the committee.

I don’t know the people who are in the committee. The minister didn’t allow us to talk at the meeting, we would have proposed there should be a member from the family on the committee but we were not allowed”.
