Opponents of the #FixTheCountry movement who claimed what started as a social media campaign, will die a natural death, would have to think again as Fighter General for Economic Fighters League Hardi Yakubu said the movement is here to stay.

Mr. Yakubu insisted the movement is not an event but rather a continuous campaign that is intended to cause a change, ensuring the desired development is delivered to the citizens by the leadership of the country.

Mr. Yakubu maintained that the kind of campaign being waged by the #FixTheCountry movement cannot be described as a nine day wonder but rather “something that we will continue to grow from strength to strength to achieve its desired goal

We Will continue to wake up the conscience of the people to jettison what they have been made to believe that there salvation is in their political party when in actual fact their political parties are asylum that gives power to a few people to manipulate the political and economic situation to their own advantage when majority is wallowing in abject poverty

When Noel Nutsugah, host of the Statecraft on Zylofon FM sought to find out if the group has any political leaning, the Fighter General responded that #FixTheCountry is made up of people who refused to allow the system to oppress us, who refused to accept that it is okay for millions of citizens to receive healthcare on benches and on the floor”.

We are people who don’t believe that it is okay for children to sit on floors that are not even qualified to be a hencoop, we refused to accept that it is okay for citizens to die on roads because of potholes, that is who we are” Mr. Yakubu stressed.

He also denied assertions by some that the August 4 demonstration is to create disaffection for the government in power, saying “We are not doing this against any particular government or party. This is against the combination of mismanagement and incompetence by successive government 30 years ago”.

We are merely echoing the voices of Ghanaians who want the system fixed, he posited.

We don’t care if you belong to any political party, we are doing this as citizens of this country who refused to be spectators

Concerning arrangements to observe the COVID-19 protocols, Mr. Yakubu said there are preparations underway to ensure that everyone is protected so as not to breach the protocols.

We are very responsible citizens so we are also procuring sanitizers and masks to give those who may not have as well as there will be marshals available to ensure that there is social distancing, he concluded.
