ENI Ghana has announced another discovery of oil located approximately 50 kilometres off the coast and about 8 kilometres north-west of the Sankofa Hub.
This new discovery according to statement from the Energy Ministry to Mynewsafric.com, is estimated to deliver at 5,000 barrels of oil per day which is similar to the wells already in production from the Sankofa Field.
“The Ministry of Energy notes with delight an announcement by the ENT Group of a significant oil discovery in Block 4 Offshore Ghana. The well that led to the discovery is located approximately 50 kilometres off the coast and about 8 kilometres north-west of the Sankofa Hub where the John Agyekum Kufuor FPSO is located”.
ENI has been present in Ghana since 2009 and accounts currently for a gross production of about 80,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day. Over the years, the company has been a valuable partner in the petroleum industry.
It is expected that the warm relations that exist between Ghana and ENI will be consolidated further with this new discovery as we enter a new and hopefully exciting phase of this relationship, the statement from the Energy Ministry concluded.
