A South African mother has given birth to ten children, shattering the World Record formerly held by Malian Halima Cisse, who gave birth to nine children in May in Morocco.

According to local media reports in South Africa, Gosiame Thamara Sithole, 37, had a caesarian operation to give birth to seven boys and three girls, earning her the Guinness World Record holder for the most children born by a single mother.

Additionally, reports claim that Sithole and her husband Teboho Tsotetsi were expecting eight children, but two of them allegedly missed the scan owing to being tucked within the incorrect tube.

I am shocked by my pregnancy. It was tough at the beginning. I was sick. It was hard for me. It’s still tough but I am used to it now. I don’t feel the pain anymore, but it’s still a bit tough. I just pray for God to help me deliver all my children in a healthy condition, and for me and my children to come out alive. I would be pleased about it,” Sithole said told local media.

Tsotetsi told the Pretoria News that Sithole delivered their bundles of joy 29 weeks into her pregnancy and that the pregnancy was organic since she was not undergoing fertility therapy.

Sithole, who also has six-year-old twins, told media late Monday night that he is ‘happy’ and ’emotional’ after the birth of the decuplets.

In May, a Malian lady gave birth to nonuplets in Morocco, surpassing the previous record of eight kids set by an American woman, Nadya Suleman, in 2009.

According to reports, only two other sets of nonuplets have been documented since the 1970s, but both sets of babies died within days.
