Qatari club, Al Sadd have confirmed in a statement, the departure of club manager, Xavier Hernández to Barcelona.
The statement which was released on the official social media platforms of of the club indicated that, Al Sadd reached an agreement with Barcelona which led to the payment of a 5 million pounds release clause stated in the manager’s contract.
The statement which was issued by the Club’s CEO, Turki Al-Ali read “The #AlSadd administration has agreed on Xavi’s move to Barcelona after the payment of the release clause stipulated in the contract. We’ve agreed on cooperation with Barcelona in the future. Xavi is an important part of Al-Sadd’s history, and we wish him success.”
“Xavi informed us a few days ago of his desire to go to Barcelona at this particular time, because of the critical stage his hometown club is going through, and we understand this and decided not to stand in his way.“
“Xavi and his family will remain welcome in Doha, and our relationship will continue.” Turki Al-Ali said.
Barcelona will be looking forward to sealing a deal with their former player and have him announced as new manager ahead of their Matchday 13 weekend fixture against Celta Vigo on Saturday.
