The Economic Fighters League has described the standoff between the Ghana Police Service and the Member of Parliament for Madina as an attempt to intimidate him, his supporters, and anyone who may be inspired to stand against what it called “the rotten system”.
According to the group, “it is clear from the sequence of events and the communiques issued by Francis-Xavier Sosu that his actions have been lawful and within his rights”.
The Economic Fighters League in a statement said the actions of the Police was a “shameless abuse of power and call on all who stand for the protection of rights to rally around Comrade Sosu in what is yet another battle for the soul of Ghana”.
“The Economic Fighters League cannot and will not sit back as a defender of human rights has his own rights violated in retaliation for his efforts to stand for the People of Madina. We remind his persecutors that they work for the People, and that Francis-Xavier Sosu is one of the few parliamentary representatives whose focus remains the People” parts of the statement read.
