As part of his efforts to keep rice farmers in his constituency in profitable business and reduce their cost of renting, Member of Parliament for North Tongu in the Volta Region Samuel Okudjeto Ablakwa presented Combine Harvester and Power Tillers to the Aveyime Rice Farmers’ Association.

The farm equipment which were handed to the farmers on Saturday November 20, 2021 by the MP would be the first time in the history of the association that it has access to its own dedicated Combine Harvester and Power Tillers.

The two machines are valued in the excess of GH₵300, 000.00.

The machines according to the MP will be operated and used by the famers at a “special MP subsidized rate, far below market charges”.

“This intervention valued in excess of GHS300, 000.00 will ensure that my beloved rice farmers will not only complete harvesting before Christmas, they would also be guaranteed enhanced profits from henceforth” he posted on his Facebook wall.

Mr. Ablakwa maintained that the era where rice farmers in his constituency have to depend on expensive and unreliable rentals are over.

“I shall continue to empower our dynamic hardworking farmers, create more jobs in the process, and contribute our quota towards Ghana’s rice self-sufficiency imperative” the MP pledged.

He therefore called on corporate Ghana as well as individuals to do their part by patronizing and eating rice grown and processed in Ghana.

“You can also support us by deliberately and consistently buying made in Ghana rice”
