The National Identification Authority (NIA) has started the operationalizing of its 16 Regional and 275 Districts offices nationwide.

The initiative taken by the Authority is in line with its statutory mandate aimed at setting up, conducting public sensitization and engaging with community leaders on the impending operations of the Regional and District offices to increase access to the Ghana Card, and other related registration activities throughout the country.

The offices will operate within the usual business hours from 8:00am to 5:00pm each day with the exception of weekends. This initiative will also enable newly appointed officers familiarize themselves with their various communities and other preparatory activities.

In a statement, the NIA said from November 3 to 5, 2021 it will set-up, conduct public sensitization and engage with community leaders on the impending operations of the Regional and District offices.

To ensure a smooth and effective roll-out of this initiative, the National Identification Authority will from November 8 to 16, 2021 issue Ghana Cards to Ghanaians who registered during the mass registration but could not receive their cards.

From November 17, 2021 onwards, the authority will begin the ‘’issuance of Ghana Cards to applicants, while registering and issuing of the cards to Ghanaians aged 15 years and above will also commence, the statement said.

“Replacement of lost, stolen and damaged Ghana cards and updating of personal information of applicants in the National Identity Register (NIR) will also take effect from 29th November onwards”.

Head of Corporate Affairs at the NIA, Abudu Abdul-Ganiyu stated that, the Authority will in due time inform the general public when the Premium Registration Centre at the NIA Head Office will be opened for business.

 Meanwhile the Authority respectively requests the co-operation and support of members of the general public.
