The newly elected President of the Africa Paralympic Committee, Samson Deen has arrived home to a rousing welcome at the Kotoka International Airport in the late hours of Wednesday, 3rd November, 2021.

He arrived in the country in company of some of his supporters after winning the elections in Rabat, Morocco over the weekend.

Mr. Deen was confirmed President of the African Paralympic Committee (APC) after polling 24 of the 41 votes at the organisation’s General Assembly held on Saturday, 31st October, 2021 in the Moroccan capital Rabat.

Samson Deen beat off competition from Morocco’s Hamid El Aouni who polled 15 votes and replaces the outgoing APC boss Leonel da Rocha Pinto who has been in charge for 13 years.

Mr. Deen currently holds the position of president of Ghana’s National Paralympics committee having been elected in 2019 and endorsed by Ministry of Youth and Sports.

Mr. Deen’s election comes as as a huge boost to Ghana’s preparation towards hosting the All African Games alongside an African Para Games in 2023.
