The Minister of Finance and Economic Planning Ken Ofori-Atta has presented the 2022 budget statement to Ghana’s Parliament on November 17, 2021.
The 2022 budget which was christened by the government as “Agyenkwa budget” has a short statement from the finance minister. It reads “With the interventions we offer through this budget, and with an understanding of burden sharing, we shall unleash a new cadre of entrepreneurs and nation builders”.
Major highlights of the 2022 budget includes but not limited to:
- Road tolls on all public roads abolished.
- Benchmark values on some goods removed
- MoMo to be taxed
- Passage of tax exemption Bill
- Youstart initiative to create 1 million jobs
- NABCo extended by one year
- Government to spend GHC137.5 billion in 2022
