The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Hohoe constituency, Peter Amewu, has commissioned a six-unit classroom block for Fodome-Helu Roman Catholic Junior High School in the Volta Region.
The construction and commissioning of the 6-Unit classroom block follows an appeal made to the MP by the chiefs and people of the community to renovate the over 70-year-old dilapidated, and unsafe structure used by both teachers and students at the school.
The 6-unit classroom block which was funded by the GetFund has an office space for use by the headmaster and teachers, a storeroom, and a library for use by the students.
Speaking at the ceremony to commission the classroom block, Hon. Peter Amewu expressed joy for the opportunity given him by the people of the constituency to serve them, adding that he is not looking for an avenue to enrich himself but to ensure that people he represent in Parliament are well served.
“I am happy that as a first-time NPP MP for Hohoe, we continue to demonstrate to our people that we came to make a difference, to be of service to our people, and to invest in the human capital potential of the constituency.”
He expressed his excitement with the completion of the classroom project. This, he believes would help to augment the existing gap in the basic education infrastructural deficit in the area.
He noted that, the completion of the classroom block is the beginning of other projects to be implemented in the area.
“This 6-unit classroom block is just the beginning as we are currently working on the UHAS- HOHOE campus project to be situated in Fodome, as well as the TVET Center which will also be built in Fodome. My vision is to make Fodome the educational hub for the Hohoe constituency. This would lead to the economic growth and development of the Fodome area amongst others”.
The MP was joined by the chiefs, religious leaders and people of the Fodome-Helu as well as the MCE for Hohoe, Noble Awumey, the Municipal Director of Education, NPPs Constituency Chairman Hon. Anthony Kondobrey, and other party executives for the commissioning.
