Former Director General of National Lotteries Authority (NLA) Kofi Osei Ameyaw has pledged to support Ghanaian graduates who are interested in an online business with GH₵500.

Reacting to the finance minister Ken Ofori-Atta’s “payroll full” comment, the former Member of Parliament for Assuogyaman Constituency in the Eastern Region said it was disappointing for the finance minister to have created the impression that government is bereft of ideas in creating jobs, thus have decided to resort to ‘excuses’.

The minister of finance, Ken Ofori Atta at a graduation ceremony at UPSA admonished all school graduates to venture into entrepreneurship since the government payroll is full and can no longer accommodate new applicants.

The Finance Minister’s statement triggered debate in the political front, with students fearing they may not be able to get job in the public sector after graduating.

But while disagreeing with Mr. Ofori-Atta on his statement, former Assuogyaman MP said he would like to help graduates who have online business ideas and are interested in turning same into viable business.

Speaking on GhOne Television on Tuesday October 19, 2021 Mr. Osei Ameyaw pledged to help any graduate with an amount of GH₵500 to start an online business.

“Anyone with an online business idea should visit the premises of Ghone TV to pitch his or her business idea to the team and receive an amount of Five Hundred Ghana Cedis as capital to start an online business”.

This he said is his way of contributing to uplifting the youth with skills and innovative ideas from poverty, thereby lessening the burden on the central government.
