Staff of the Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA) led by its Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Michael Aaron Oquaye Jnr. marched through some principal streets of Accra on Wednesday October 13, 2021 to create awareness on breast cancer.

The awareness creation exercise was under the theme “Get Your Pink On,” with focus on drawing the attention of people on the sickness and the impact it has on both women and men, while emphasizing on the need for regular screening to detect, prevent and treat breast cancer.

Addressing the media, Dr. Michael Aaron Oquaye Jnr. said, “the campaign to create awareness on the disease is part of the GFZA’s Corporate Social Responsibility and I hope the general public and employees will fully benefit from the sensitization and the in-house breast cancer screening exercise.”

He noted that, breast cancer affects “our mothers, wives, children, colleagues, family members and therefore the need for extensive sensitizations on the breast cancer”.  He further encouraged Ghanaians to constantly check for changes in their bodies and develop healthy habits to help curb the spread of the disease.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an annual campaign to raise awareness about the impact of breast cancer globally. Throughout the month, series of sensitization events are held. People wear pink ribbons to honor survivors, remember those lost to the disease, and to support the progress society is making together to defeat breast cancer.
