Member of Parliament for North Tongu Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has lashed out at journalists, saying some of them are letting the country down in line of their duty.

He believed that some practitioners belonging to the Fourth Estate of the real, are failing the country and “it is becoming depressing”.

Mr. Ablakwa was angered by some responses from the Director of Communication at the Jubilee House Eugene Arhin to his earlier claims that the President Nana Addo in his recent trip to Germany, once again used a private charter aircraft.

In Mr. Arhin’s response, he challenged the North Tongue MP to provide evidence to back his claims, denying that the President travelled in the Aircraft being alleged by Mr. Ablakwa.

Mr. Arhin also added that Mr. Ablakwa in the process peddled falsehood by going to the press with unsubstantiated information, adding that “the president did not travel in the jet Mr. Ablakwa is talking about, it is obvious that he peddled falsehood and if he has a contrary view to what I’m saying, he should provide it”.

But when Mr. Ablakwa was asked to respond to the claims by the Director of Communication at the Presidency, he expressed disappointment in journalist who correspond from the presidency, saying they could not ask the basic questions to illicit the right answers.

Explaining his disappointment to Umaru Sanda, Mr. Ablakwa said “Some journalists are letting this country down. Simple question, they cannot ask”.

He continued that if Mr. Arhin in his briefing said the President did not use the chartered Aircraft as contained in his (Ablakwa) allegations, “what is stopping the journalists there to ask him (Eugene Arhin) to disclose the exact Aircraft the President and his entourage used, if indeed he said I peddled falsehood?”.

Eugene Arhin has been able to tell the journalists at the Jubilee House that a certain African President used a particular Aircraft for 15 days but could not tell us which Aircraft our President travelled with to Germany, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa posited.

When they attend press briefing at the Presidency, they won’t ask probing questions but would want to hold us to checks, asking us probing questions, he said.
