Member of Parliament representing people of Bortianor-Ngleshie-Amanfrom constituency Sylvester Matthew Tetteh has admitted that bad roads are the biggest challenge in his area.

The MP outlined three major roads which he said are top on the list of roads he set out to construct in the constituency. The roads as listed by the MP are; American Farm road, Broadcasting road and Finney hospital road.

The MP did not minced words when Noel Nutsugah, host of Statecraft on Zylofon FM asked him what his biggest challenges were in his constituency.

He said “My biggest challenge is the roads. The roads in my constituency are not good. It doesn’t matter if I am NPP member and my government is in power, I must tell you the truth. The roads in our area are bad”.

But I mist add that “Works are currently under way on some of the major roads in the constituency”, adding that if he had the resources, he could fix them.

He said what he can do now is to lobby central government through parliament so that his constituency can also benefit from road contact allocations that come to the house.

I represent people to make laws, development projects must be championed by the assembly but I can lobby so that such developments, some can be sent to my constituency and that is what I have been doing since my election”, Mr. Tetteh emphasized.

Jobs/unemployment

The Bortianor-Ngleshie-Amanfrom MP said youth skills development is also high on his agenda, as this will help to reduce youth unemployment in the constituency.

“When you come to my constituency, there are a lot of youth who either completed school and have no jobs or engaging in unsustainable jobs. But I’m trying to change that by trying to use my position to train people in skills that can help them”.

The MP also hinted of an online platform that will serve as a market place for the youth in the constituency to advertise their trades for free, so that they can be accessible to those who may need their services.

Education

He promised to construct one community day Senior High School, which will strategically be positioned along the Aplaku and Kokrobite township road. According to the MP, the project will augment the already existing schools as well as help those students who hitherto, have to travel long distance before accessing second cycle education, especially when those schools are without boarding facilities.

When you see the road from Aplaku to Kokrobite, there is no secondary school so children have to travel from there to the two day senior high schools in the area. So, my vision is to build one community senior high school there, which will help them”.

The MP also talked about plans in the area of health infrastructure for the constituency, saying “I have already started something and I believe as time goes on it will become a fully-fledged health facility”
