The Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) on July 11, 2021, has moved the deadline for the 2021 Population and Housing Census to Sunday, July 18.

The decision according to Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) is to allow enumerators complete work in the areas they are yet to cover. The extension has become necessary following complains picked from the enumerators which suggested that, there are more grounds to cover in order to get everyone on the statistic role.

At a brief press conference to announce the extension on Sunday July 11, 2021, Government Statistician, Prof.

Kwabena Annim said as of the 12th day of the exercise, the office received 80% of data expected from households while data was revived from only 12 regions instead of all the 16 regions.

Currently, the completion rates in some districts based on the data received by the 12th day indicate that the enumeration will have to continue”.

Some of these districts where Prof. Annim said enumerations are still ongoing are include Ga West, Ga North, Ayawaso West Municipal, Adentan Municipal, Ga East, Ledzokuku, La Nkwantanang-Madina, Kpone Katamanso, Shai Osudoku and Tema West.

Meanwhile, he indicated that “field closure activities have begun in Supervisory Areas where work has been completed.

He however assured those who are yet to be counted that no one will be left behind, while urging that everyone should do well to get enumerated and cooperate with enumerators.

For members who are yet to be counted, please make yourselves available by using the callback card or informing your neighbors when you will be available”.
