An outbreak of the deadly Indian new variant, Delta has been found in a Senior High School in Accra.

This was confirmed by the Ghana Health Service

Indications from Ghana Health Services has it that all the affected students students have been responding to treatment while adding that they are asymptomatic.

The Director of Public Health at the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Franklin Asiedu-Bekoe, said GHS had information that the school [name not given] had actually detected a Delta variant, saying “this somehow confirms what we were anticipating”.

He also indicated that the parents of the students who have been infected have been informed.

Meanwhile, mynewsafric.com has picked an unconfirmed intel which suggests that the school in the middle of the outbreak could be Achimota Senior High.

The informant whose name has been withheld for security reasons said the school has been battling with the deadly disease for some time now while the authorities kept it under wrap.

The message received from the anonymous person on June 27, 2021 reads “a lot of students at Achimota Secondary school has contracted coronavirus and the authorities have not informed parents or even the teachers. The children are kept in one room on campus but are allowed to write exam with other students which exposes everyone of them including the teachers to the virus”.

Attempt to get in touch with the authorities proved fruitless.
However, some students spoken to have confirmed that some of their colleagues have been isolated but allowed to write exams with them.

Teachers and their relatives are also tight lipped on the issue but only said “there are a lot of issues and things going on here but we cannot say it. We don’t want any trouble

Our source also said “Students eat breakfast at 5:30am.

There’s no shop on the campus and teachers are not allowed to sell anything. So, when students want basic necessities such as sanitary pads they have to call their parents to bring it from home”.

“Teachers are treated like slaves. They don’t have the right to make input in anything not even timetable. Mothers with little children are put on early morning schedule from 6am though they can actually be considered for a better time. They teach from morning till 4:30pm. The question is who then takes care of children of the teacher,” the source questioned.

More on this soon.
