Mr. Robert Klah the Public Relations Officer (PRO) for Charterhouse has trashed out claims by Castro’s family that they organized a Tribute for the musician at the just ended Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).

This comes after the father of missing Ghanaian musician (Castro) in a latest interview said he was not informed about any ‘Tribute performance’ for his son (Castro) and therefore the organizers of VGMA should have avoided it.

It can be recalled that at the 22nd VGMA, Sarkodie, Kofi Kinaata and Kurl Songx performed some of Castro’s songs.

Speaking to Sammy Flex host of Showbiz Agenda on Zylofon 102.1 FM, the PRO of charterhouse says “for somebody who the law has not pronounced dead, it is quite understandable if the family comes out to say this. We (Charterhouse) didn’t hold a tribute for Castro, it was an honoring performance. To honor somebody is to regard with great respect. Castro has been on our platform, several platforms and for us, he is an industry personality we worked with experience.”

Mr. Klah moved on to explain that, the entertainment industry sometimes pays respect to people who have passed on and even some who had nothing to do with the industry.

The entertainment industry sometimes we even do a little bit of one minute silence. Castro’s case which is quite different because he is not dead, he is not been pronounced dead and such a figure have been missed on our platforms, knowing how he worked and all that we thought we should do something to honor his works, our relationship and clearly state how much we miss him.”

According to the PRO, there was no need for Charterhouse to contact the Family of Castro and seek permission before they stage a performance in honor of him. He said just as it is not possible for all Radio programs and TV station to ask permission from the family before holding a discussion about Castro or playing his music, so did they as Event organizers not see the need to ask permission.

Your platform as a Radio Platform will play his songs, with or without permission, TV stations will also play his videos, Event organizers will like to pull a few people to make a statement, and how will you make a statement? Certainly through performance. So that is all we did, we just did something in honor of the personality that we miss, somebody that has been on our platform that we love, someone who is a VGMA winner,” he said.

He added that, “Previously, what we did for Ebony with the four females in the industry was a Tribute. We had Mzvee, Akosua Agyepong, Efya and another person. They did a performance and that was like a pure tribute to Ebony. This, the focus was to be able to honor a personality who is a VGMA award winner, it wasn’t a tribute. If it was a tribute then the scores would have been different.
