TUNISIA has confirmed six cases of the Delta COVID-19 strain, which was originally identified in India, the health ministry said, amidst the virus’s rapid spread in the North African nation.

Tunisia is dealing with an increase in cases after effectively controlling the virus in the initial wave last year.

The country last week imposed a lockdown in four governates as Covid cases increased and intensive care units almost filled.

Tunisia has reported about 14,233 coronavirus fatalities out of 387,000 coronavirus cases.
