The Chief Executive Officer of the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), Mrs. Delese Mimi Darko has assured the public of the quality, safety and efficacy of the Sputnik V, Covishield and the Johnson & Johnson vaccines.

In a press statement released on Tuesday, Mrs. Darko stated that “the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) like other national regulatory authorities globally, uses the Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) pathway to ensure timely access to quality and safe medical products including vaccines during pandemics“.

She stated that this EUA pathway subjects all medical product applications to rigorous quality, safety, and efficacy assessments. Therefore, the FDA has authorised the importation, distribution and use of the three vaccines.

According to Mrs. Darko, the FDA performs its duties flawlessly with the health security of every Ghanaian in mind. She therefore urged the general public to shed their fears and go for any of these vaccines to help fight against the pandemic.
