Patience Asiedua, also known as Nana Agradaa has been convicted and sentenced to a fine of GHc36,000, by the Accra Circuit Court for operating Television station without license.

The Court on June 16, 2021 also asked Nana Agradaa to pay an extra amount of GHc10 thousand for advertising ‘Sika Gari’, a god she claimed can double money.

This was after Nana Agradaa changed her not guilty plea to guilty to two charges of operating TV without license and charlatanic advertisement of ‘Sika Gari’.

The owner of satellite television channel Thunder TV, Patience Asiedua, was arrested after the station was found to be operating illegally. This follows a raid by a joint team of Police and National Security Intelligence Operatives, in collaboration with the National Communications Authority on Tuesday, April 20, 2021.

The joint operation was carried out in the Kasoa premises of the television station. She was later arrested and admitted to a self-recognizance bail of GHc500, 000 cedis by Judge Emmanuel Essandoh with a directive of depositing her passport with the court’s registry.

But in court on June 16, 2021, Judge Emmanuel Essandoh held that, Nana Agradaa who is the owner of Thunder TV was operating without valid license hence was convicted on her own plea and sentenced to a fine of 3,000 penalty unit, in default she will serve a three year jail term in hard labour.
However on the offense of charlatanic advertisement ‘sika gari’, a god she claimed to have founded and owned, the court sentenced her to a fine of GHc10, 000 cedis or in default serve a year in prison.

The court said she is to serve the sentences concurrently which means she will pay the highest fine which is GHc36, 000 cedis.
