The Minority in Parliament has revealed that a Jubilee House officer has been arrested for allegedly engaged in galamsey.

Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu, who made the discovery, did not provide details, instead referring to one Domoah as the official in the seat of government who had been detained by national security.

According to the Tamale South Member of Parliament, numerous other government employees are involved in illicit mining because they feel empowered by their administration’s victory.

Haruna Iddrisu, speaking at a leadership media interaction in parliament, cautioned against any cover-up, noting that the minority is closely monitoring the progress.

“We are calling for increased openness in the President’s battle against galamsey. I’ve heard a gentleman was apprehended a few days ago at Flagstaff House, one Damoah, and we’re keeping a tight eye on him. Nobody should attempt to conceal his actions in connection with his participation or involvement in galamsey” he narrated.

Damoah was apprehended by National Security, and they are attempting to conceal the fact, but we are monitoring very closely. We can only hope that the President is waging war on his own people, whom we are beginning to learn about, Tamale South MP bemoaned.

Meanwhile, Majority Leader Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu defended the government’s decision to burn excavators seized from illegal miners in his speech.
