Ghanaian heavyweights Accra Hearts of Oak are on track to win their first Ghana Premier League (GPL) title in almost 12 years after beating arch-rivals Kumasi Asante Kotoko 1-0 in Sunday’s grueling encounter in Accra.
The Accra-based team have seized a three-point lead at the top of the league after their victory in their top-of-the-table game courtesy to a single goal from in-form midfielder Daniel Afriyie Barnie.
The two giants were tied on 56 points with only goal-difference separating them before Sunday’s clash at the Accra Sports Stadium, but the win for the phobias against the Porcupine warriors, who were in second position, has split them three points apart.
Hearts of Oak currently sit on on top of the league with 59 points after 31 matches, while Kotoko are still in the second position with 56 points after the same amount of matches with 3 more to go.
