Founder of Economic Fighters League, Ernesto Yeboah, has likened the pending #FixTheCountry demonstration to Tsunami, saying not even President Akufo-Addo can stop them.

Coming the back of recent Police’ call on the public not to join the #FixTheCountry demonstration, Ernesto Yeboah said no amount of frustration and attempt would stop the youth from demanding accountability and better leadership from leaders “whose interest is themselves and their immediate families and relations”.

The Ghana Police Service, following the Supreme Court ruling to quash the service’ Ex Parte that sought to prevent #fixthecountry protest, has advised the public not to honour any invitation to participate in a demonstration organised by conveners of the #FixTheCountry protest, saying the protest will not be in compliance with provisions of the Public Order Act.

According to the police, the decision of the Supreme Court does not conclude their litigation with the conveners of the protest at the High Court, as the substantive case will be heard on June 14, 2021.

But Ernesto Yeboah slammed the Police describing the statement as confusing and error-ridden, adding that no form of intimidation would stop the organizers from going ahead with the planned demonstration.

We are not demanding much, all we want is good governance that ensures that water flows through even the pipes of the police, Power is stable for even the police to protect us and even the President to steer the affairs of the country. By this, we want to send signals to the powers that be that no amount of harassment and law suits will curtail our sovereign and constitutional right to demonstrate”.

He also clarified that the demonstration is not targeted at a particular personality but the political system which has failed Ghanaians. “That is what we have to let all know, that we are not targeting the ruling government. We are saying things have become bad so they must fix it” Ernesto said.
