Over 50 people, including civilians, are believed to have been killed after Ethiopian forces bombed a busy market in the embattled northern region of Tigray.

According to eyewitnesses, the Ethiopian Air Force struck the town of Togoga on Tuesday afternoon.

The bombings came a day after the Tigray Defence Troops (TDF) announced significant wins against Ethiopian and Eritrean forces.

It also comes at a time when vote-counting has been under way following elections that went ahead without voting in the Tigray region and other restive parts of the country.
