Acting National Chairman for the Progressive Transport Owners Association (PROTOA), Benjamin Agorsu Katsekpor, has called on all transport owners and drivers in the association to comply with the new transport fares announced last Thursday.

According to him the transport sector plays an integral role in the economy hence the need to co-operate with stakeholders in the interest of the general public.

The Ghana Private Roads Transport Union (GPRTU) on Wednesday June 2, 2021, has announced new transport fares which will take effect from Saturday. It is following this that Ben Katsekpor called on his members comply with the increment and adjust their fares upward accordingly to avoid clashes with commuters.

The release said “in line with the administrative arrangement on public transport fares, the road transport operators have reviewed the prices of various components that go into the running of commercial transport services”.

It added that “We are part of the transport industry and we need to comply with all regulations guiding our operations. What I don’t want to hear is, our drivers clash with passengers, No. Let us go about this in a manner that will not bring troubles” he pleaded.
