After defeating Adam Lopez in a majority decision in Las Vegas, Isaac Dogboe moved one step closer to his goal of winning a second world championship title.

A very close fight saw the former WBO Super Bantamweight world champion emerge victorious on the judges’ scorecards, giving him two victories in his last two fights to make it two wins in a row.

In the end, the judges, Dave Moretti scored the bout 95-95, while Don Trella and Chris Migliore scored it 97-93 and 96-94 respectively for Dogboe.

Following back-to-back defeats to Emmanuel Navarrete in 2018 and 2019, the Ghanaian returned to the ring for the second time. Those defeats cost him the WBO super bantamweight title.

In his most recent fight, he defeated Chris Avalos by technical knockout in the eighth round in July 2020.

Dogboe got off to a fast start and appeared to be in command on the scorecards, but he faded and allowed Lopez to enter the fight in the sixth round, prompting questions about his conditioning.

By the tenth and final round, the fight was still up for grabs, as both corners reminded the two boxers of how close the previous nine rounds had been.

According to the Compubox data, Lopez threw more punches (527 to 487) and landed more (152 to 134), resulting in a 29% over Dogboe’s 28%.

Dogboe beats Lopez by majority decision

Dogboe, on the other hand, landed more body punches (31 to 25), which, when combined with his high level of activity in the early rounds, was enough to persuade the two judges.
