Ghanaian Dancehall artist Livingstone Etse Satekla, known in showbiz circle as Stonebwoy has disclosed that the gift of making music is an inherent family gift.
Speaking to Rev. Erskine on the Y Leaderboard series, the dancehall act noted that he is not the ‘beginner’ of music in their family, even though his type of music maybe unique. He added that music composition has been part of him since infancy.
“My talent maybe unique but I am definitely not the beginner in the family. My great grandmother was a custodian of music in the traditional setting. I have had cousins in the media. Even my daughter can sing. It is in there in my family”
Stories of how many great musicians beginning from the church, is not different from that of 1Gad as he explained that his musical carrier started from the church.
“At home, I was that person that will entertain everybody at home till they fell asleep and you know, I have been composing music when I was in class 5,” he said.
Stonebwoy further stated that despite growing up in a highly religious home, he does not see himself joining the gospel train anytime soon. Giving his reasons, he explained that “My father was going through a certain phase at that time, and I was also learning life so, I was getting wiser. I just wanted to explore outside the Christian box and to feel a bit freer so I think that was what informed my decision to step out.”
He told Rev. Erskine that he realized there was nothing for him in the church anymore and most of his church friends started complaining about his new hairstyle.
