The President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has sent his best wishes to the Junior High School students who are writing their final examinations.

The President in a tweet wished the students and reminded them that his flagship second cycle education program “Free SHS” awaits them next year.

“I send best wishes to all 571, 894 students who are sitting for this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination”.

“Make Ghana proud with the quality of your results, and remember at all times that Free SHS awaits you next year”, his tweet on Monday morning before midday said.

A total number of 571, 894 candidates are sitting for this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE) from Monday, November 15, 2021 to Friday November 19, 2021 in all 2,158 dedicated centres nationwide.

A total of 531,707 and 517,332 candidates sat for the examination in 2020 and 2019, respectively.

Head of Public Affairs, West African Examinations Council Agnes Teye-Cudjoe, said the Council had put in place stringent security measures to prevent leakages in this year’s examinations.

She said officials of the National Intelligence Bureau monitored the production process – printing, sorting and packaging of the papers- and confident that there would be no leakages of the papers before and during the exams.

“The Council has also increased the number of depots storing confidential materials under strict surveillance to ensure that the papers did not leak before and during the examinations,” she said.
