Some members of Danquah Ladies, NPP affiliate Women Group based in the Northern Region have attempted to attack former Municipal Chief Executive for Sagnarigu Hajia Mariam during a live radio program on Friday November 12, 2021.

Reports said the former MCE was at the radio station, Radio Tamale, to respond to accusations leveled against her by the group the previous day.

It took timely interventions of the management of the radio station to stop the angry looking women from attacking the former MCE who was on air at the time of the attack.

Hajia Mariam who until becoming MCE in 2017 was an integral member of the all women group but somehow fell out.

A day before the Friday attack, some executives of the group were on the same radio station to ostensibly accuse the former MCE of neglecting the group as well as joining forces with the NDC in the area to destroy the NPP.

Due of fairness and objectivity, the radio station reached out to the Hajia Mariam for her side of the story which she obliged.

While on the show “Bugumbeni”, the Station’s late afternoon drive, words got to the host that some women were outside trying to break into the studio to attack his guest. A quick announcement got listeners from the area, massed up in defense of the former MCE, preventing what would have been a blood bath.

A source at the scene said “they came shouting and tried to enter the station. They were insulting her that thief, thief thief, you have make one with NDC to destroy our party. Today we will beat you physical (sic)”.

The management of the radio station have since made formal report to the Police.
