The Juaben Traditional Council has denied reports that it has forced some Assembly Members from the Juaben Municipal Assembly to kneel and apologise to Juabenhene for voting against the President’s nominee for the Juaben Municipal Assembly.

This is in reaction to a picture making round on the social media where some assembly members of Juaben MunicipalAssembly who were alleged to have voted to reject the President’s nominee for the assembly, have been ‘forced’ to kneel as a sign of apology to the Omanhene of the Juaben Traditional Area Nana Otuo Siriboe II .

The assembly members were seen in the picture looking pensive and disappointed, with some condemning the actions of the Paramount chief.

However, in a bit to set the record straight, the Traditional Council in a press statement said on Friday October 29, 2021 the Assembly members of Juaben in Ashanti Region held a Press Conference concerning the endorsement of the President’s Nominee for Juaben MCE, essentially to tell the people of the area why they could not endorse the nominee.

Soon after the press conference, the Omanhene of the Juaben Traditionl Area Nana Otuo Siriboe II summoned the dissenting assemblymen to his Palace to know what had stimulated the holding of the Press Conference since he had already dealt with the issue.

According to the statement from the Traditional Council, after deliberations at the Palace, the assembly members admitted their mistake and pleaded with the Gyasehene to intercede on their behalf for forgiveness.

It added that, it was that point that the Gyasehene then advised the assembly men to show their expression of remorse by kneeling “and they conformed to his advice”.

“The Assembly Members at this point admitted their mistake and pleaded with the Gyasehene to intercede on their behalf for forgiveness. The Gyasehene then advised them that they should signify their expression of utmost remorse by kneeling. They duly complied with this advice”.

“At no point was any Assembly Member forced to kneel for voting against the Nominee. After all the Omanhene had no mechanism to know how members voted” the statement concluded.
