Ghana Women’s Premier League champions, Hasaacas Ladies will begin their TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League journey on Friday, November 5, 2021 when they take on the females of Malabo Kings Football Club in the first edition of the competition in Egypt.

The Secondi-based club that saw off renowned Nigerian club, Rivers Angels in the West African zone B qualifiers, will be looking for a win in their group opener against the Equatorial Guinean side at the 30 June Stadium at exactly 17:00 GMT (19:00 Local Time).

Egypt will play host to the historic event in 14 days with all eight competing teams.

The host nation representative and serial Egyptian Women’s Premier League winners Wadi Degla will kickstart the entire competition when they face AS Mande of Mali at the same venue at 14:00 GMT (16:00 Local Time) on Friday.

The games will be live on SuperSports, BeIN, CAF Website and FIFA TV.

Meanwhile, the qualifying rounds saw winners of six CAF Zones jousted for a ticket to the continental event with qualifiers between July and September. They are joined by the representative of the host nation, Wadi Degla, and, for this (first) edition only, an extra team from the zone of the defending CAF Africa Women Cup of Nations champions (West Africa).

The tournament follows in the footsteps of the long-standing UEFA Women’s Champions League and Copa Libertadores Femenina, while Asia intends to establish the AFC Women’s Club Championship on an annual basis following several pilot editions.
