The Police administration has debunked allegations that it has dispatched officers to arrest Member of Parliament for Madina Fancis Xavier Sosu at a church in Madina.
The service has thus described the stories about the attempted arrest of the MP as “Untrue”
“Stories circulating that some Police personnel had been dispatched to arrest the MP at a church today Sunday, October 31, 2021, are untrue”.
On Sunday October 31, 2021, some operatives suspected to be from the National Security attempted to arrest Mr. Sosu during a church service. They were not successful due to intervention from some youths of the constituency.
But according to the Police statement on same night, the plained-clothed officers who were been seen at the MP’s church were there to gather intelligence and not to arrest him.
“Any plain-clothed Police personnel found on the premises of the church may have been there for intelligence purposes and not to effect an arrest”.
Meanwhile, Police said it will continue to investigate to conduct investigations into this matter while urging the public to continue to support the service as “we maintain law and order”.
