Ghanaians have reprimanded President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo for his ‘undiplomatic’ response to the request made by the Paramount Chief of Aflao Traditional area, Torgbui Adzonugaga Amenya Fiti V to complete the Community Day Senior High School project in his area.

This comes after the President in a radio interview on Peace FM on Thursday October 21, 2021, responded to a four months ultimatum given by the Paramount chief to government to complete and open the school project popularly referred to as E-block which was started by the erstwhile Mahama government.

The President in his response to the Chief, asked the latter to “go and complete the project himself if he felt frustrated”.

This comment made by the president did not sit well with many Ghanaians and when Mynewsafric.com reporter Padmore Selorm Takramah went to the streets to solicit views of the public, they were unanimous in calling on the President to render an unqualified apology to the Chief and by extension, people of the Traditional area.

A taxi driver said, “the reply the president gave to the Chief is capricious and doesn’t sound good in the ears, he is the father of the nation and if what the Chief said doesn’t sit well with him, it doesn’t warrant the president to give that kind of reply and therefore the president must be advised in his public utterances”.

One person also says “it is wrong for the president to make such comment and the reason for it being wrong is that, the president is the custodian of tax payers money and if the Chief demands for a project to complete, he could have just given a timeline to finish the school but telling the Chief to complete the school himself isn’t right and he should be patient in responding to such issues”.

Another person also said, “I am an Ewe and I am not satisfied with the kind of comment the president made. The president should retract otherwise we’ll advise ourselves”.

“Now the president has power and he feels no one can intimidate him and that he can say or do whatever he likes, if this was an election year, he wouldn’t make such comment. He should apologize to the Chief because he wouldn’t give such a reply to Otumfuor”.
