The People’s National Convention has indefinitely suspended its general-secretary Janet Nabla over what it calls gross misconduct.

The former executive was also cited for incompetence and insubordination.

According to a statement by the party, “its National Executive Committee in considering and adopting a report submitted by the Disciplinary Committee of the party unanimously took the decision to suspend the general secretary to rid the party of indiscipline to save itself from her persistent vile accusation and disrespect for the leadership of the party which has undoubtedly cast the PNC in bad light.”

The statement added, “a petition we put before the Disciplinary Committee of the party calling for the General Secretary to answer for her conduct and stewardship but unfortunately, she snubbed the Committee by refusing to appear before the Disciplinary Committee despite several attempts by the Committee to get her to tum up.”

Following from this the Committee presented its report to NEC for consideration which recommends indefinite suspension of Madam Janet Nabla and it was unanimously endorsed by NEC in accordance with Article 5(71) of the party, Constitution.”

The statement noted that “Though a painful decision, the NEC of the PNC deems it appropriate to adopt this decision to protect the image of the party in the midst of all the negative press surrounding the party, emanating from the conduct of the former General Secretary Madam Janet Nabla.”

Meanwhile, Madam Nabla said the decision was taken by people he described as ‘family and friend’ whose intention has always been to hijack the party.

She said the meeting that took the decision to suspend her was not properly constituted as it failed woefully to form a quorum.

I am still the General Secretary of the party. How can they suspend me when they did not form quorum, it was just family and friends meeting that took the decision, disregard that” she said.
