Gender Activist and Co-host of Zylofon FM’s morning show, the Statecraft, Samira Mohammed Ibn Moro has described the Anglican Priest in the centre of ‘kissing’ scandal of three students of St. Monica’s College of Education in the Ashanti region, as a pervert and someone who has taken advantage of innocent student to harass them sexually.

Livid Ms. Moro said the act by the Anglican Priest who she said must be counselling the students against immorality, rather decided to subject the students and the entire congregation into explicit behavior that is best passed for a sexual scene in one of adapted Soap Operas on Ghanaian Television screens.

She said the action of the man in the viral video was not only unchristian but also a breach of President’s directive on COVID-19, thus called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of the said Priest.

When I first saw the video, I was disgusted and ask myself what kind of Christian teachings allow such behavior in the Church. You can clearly see that one of the students was not willing, so there was some form of cohesion and use of power

That Priest must be arrested and prosecuted immediately. We must not condone wrong,” Ms. Moro told Mynesafric.com.

Few hours after the video of the Anglican Church kissing those three students went viral, the Church released a statement saying it has launched an investigations into the issue and will accordingly penalize the perpetrator if found guilty.

Section of the statement reads “The Church is saddened by the news and wish to state expressly that, thorough investigation has immediately been instituted into the matter and the action of the said Priest would be dealt with in accordance with the norms and values of the Anglican Church”.

But Ms. Moro will not have any of those explanations by the Church, saying the statement is uncompleted not worthy of consideration, if not waste of valuable time.

“I am very disappointed in the release by the Church. They should have immediately called for the arrest of the Priest instead of telling us that they were going to investigate. Which investigations again” she queried in anger.

For her, the possible outcome the Anglican Church will communicate, (that is if they had done any investigations at all), will be “to tell us that the ‘kissing’ Priest has been sacked or suspended, if not transferred and that is where the matter will die natural death”.

The man has committed crime and must be dealt with by the laws of the country, not religious codes and ethics, she posited.
